SERVICES
I offer professional learning opportunities that go beyond developing “skills and strategies”– that also incorporate dynamic opportunities to ask questions, think critically, and consider the broader implications of our literacy teaching practices - all within a collaborative, respectful, and joyful environment.
My workshops, courses, curriculum guides, and keynotes combine theory and practice, centered within a pedagogy of care, that reflects over two decades of teaching experience in a variety of educational spaces at the Pre-K-12, undergraduate, and graduate levels.
Not only do educators walk away from our time together feeling curious and inspired; they often have a deeper understanding of the “whys” behind their practices and continue to reflect upon these long after our initial collaboration ends.
Tired of “one-size-fits-all” professional development that lacks a broader awareness of how our literacy teaching practices impact specific educators, students, and systems?
Looking for a professional learning opportunity that is thoughtfully tailored and that centers care, curiosity, and critical thinking?
Let’s have a conversation about how we can design something together that feels right for you and your colleagues, but that also pushes all of us to think more deeply about the important work we do.
Let’s jumpstart this collaborative journey!
Some of the workshops, courses, and keynotes I frequently offer include those that focus on:
Increasing student engagement through multimodal reading and writing
Examining literacy teaching practices using an anti-oppressive lens
Revising our literacy teaching practices to be more authentic, inclusive, and student-centered
Teaching students to read and write comics and graphic novels
Humanizing the ways we assess readers and writers
Using an inquiry approach to teach our student writers
Are you and your colleagues engaged in a formal (or informal!) study around one of my books?
I am happy to offer a complimentary 30-minute virtual Q&A session as my schedule/capacity permits.
